arts & crafts show @ jenks church

this saturday is the arts and crafts show at jenks church!  if you like neat and creative finds, this is the place for you.  in the spring they had multiple booth with people that have etsy shops which was great b/c there is always cute stuff on etsy!  there was also great jewelry, knitted items, leather items, scrapbooking items, candles, etc.

i bought some adorable photo props....a knitted cap for a little boy and multiple headbands with flowers and flower clips for little girls.  all that cute stuff that you wish stores would carry!  so anyways, if you need to do some christmas shopping, then head out to jenks church at 118th & elwood.  it's always fun to give meaningful gifts that someone actually made.  details are below....happy shopping!

oh, and if any of you readers are going to have a booth, please comment about what you will be showcasing!

the quest for....

shoes & a camera bag!

i'm trying to be proactive for our vacation, so i am on the hunt for a comfortable pair of shoes and a camera bag.

shoes:
on a day to day basis i usually wear dress shoes/heels.  i love them and my closet is full of them.  unfortunately these are not a good option for long days of walking.  other than just flip flops and running shoes, i don't have many casual pairs of shoes.  i would like to find a pair of sandals that are #1 comfortable and #2 fashionable.  most of the comfortable sandals that i find are quite ugly or too casual...i don't want athleticky (word?) ones.  i have found a couple online that look like possibilities...but you never know until you try them on.  i like the gladiator sandal look, just wondering if the ankle strap would be comfortable.  both of the brands below are known for their comfort, but i've never had a pair, have you?

camera bags:
there is a lack of cute/stylish camera bags in the world.  the majority of bags for slr cameras all look the same.  they are black and they are bulky and they scream "camera bag"!  i have found a few that are really cute, but they are either way expensive or they aren't practical for the type of vacation i am going on...or so i think...although the longer i look the more i think something like this could work...

both come with an across body strap.  i definitely love the look of these...especially the red epiphanie bag!

but, this lowepro sling bag i think is more travel friendly with what we are going to be doing.  it goes across the body so both hands could be free and it won't bounce around like the ones above.  you can wear it tight across your body or more loose and there is some room for personal items as well.

so, as i was writing about the bags i convinced myself to get the red one...until i got to the lowepro one...why can't their be a happy median?  a stylish camera sling bag?  is that really too much to ask?

if any of you readers out there have any suggestions on the shoes OR the camera bag, please comment!  what are your favorites?

i hit the jackpot!

on saturday i was in stillwater and me, my sister and parents went to Wall's Bargain Center.  It's one of those places that you never know what you are going to find.  well...in my opinion...we hit the jackpot on this trip.  in the back of the store was a whole section of items from....
a n t h r o p o l o g i e !
if you have never experienced anthropologie i strongly suggest you do.  check them out at http://www.anthropologie.com/.  although, visiting their store is half the fun.  it is vintage, eclectic, country, innovative, creative, and modern all at the same time.  they have clothing, accessories, home stuff, bedding, kitchen thingy majigs, candles, perfume, a little bit everything.  you will probably either love it or hate it.  i happen to love it, but not it's prices.  in my opinion it is very pricey...so i go to the stores to lust and take pictures of things that i love, but can't afford, or just don't want to spend that much money on {remember how my tastes change???}

{notice the bottom left picture...it's a lamp but the base is made out of tea pots and saucers...so creative!}

so anyways, there was a whole section of anthropologie bedding and rugs and pillows.  i was in hog heaven!  everything was at least 70% off retail price maing it much more affordable to me.  here are some pics...

i walked out with a great quilt & shams that i blogged about yesterday, a curtain panel in a beautiful blue color, and a  90"x108" tapestry that is really neat with birds and stuff on it.  i also picked up some pillow shams and a tapestry for sarah as well.  it was super fun......
i love finding unexpected bargains!

this is what i'm talking about!

Dillard's Shoe Sale

you can't beat 70% off plus an ADDITIONAL 40% off!

this is why i love Dillard's:
-they have awesome sales
just a couple of weeks ago they had all their swim wear on a great sale...pieces for $7.99 and $9.99 (they probably still have some left).
-their home department has great sales as well throughout the year....400 thread count sheets for $29!  complete comforter/sham/bed skirt sets for $60!
-shoe sales...just bought a pair for $15!
-oh...and i can't forget the purse's they have...and yes...they clear those out as well!

most of their sales tend to be towards the end of each season w/ the largest sales at the end of summer and then winter.  my parents are huge dillards shoppers and always seem to scope out the good deals first...i'll try and pass it along as well.

GAP is just as great at sales.  growing up when we would shop there, mom wouldn't buy it unless it was $14.99 or under b/c give it a couple weeks and they would drop the price {trust me, it drove me crazy then, funny how now i appreciate it and do the same thing}.  once she did buy something if the price went down w/in two weeks she could go back, present her receipt and get the difference back!  How cool is that?

so the moral of this story is:
be a smart shopper and don't pay full price.
trust me, it is MUCH more exciting when you find a great deal!
what great deals have you found recently???
